Singapore-based AI health technology company Genie Health has raised US$3 million in seed funding to scale its consumer health app, Genie, and expand Genie SmartCare, its health intelligence platform for clinics. The round was led by the Nadathur Family Office, with participation from Liminal, a Founders’ Studio backed by Temasek, and two healthcare leaders investing alongside them.
The funding will be used to deepen the company’s AI capabilities, accelerate SmartCare adoption among clinics and expand its product, engineering and healthcare teams in Singapore. Anand Nadathur, Principal of the Nadathur Family Office, will join Genie Health’s board of directors.
Genie Health is building a two-sided platform intended to help individuals understand their health and decide what to do next, while giving healthcare providers tools to strengthen patient engagement and deliver more personalised care. Its two products are the Genie personal health app and Genie SmartCare, a clinic intelligence platform that uses agentic AI for patient engagement and broader health insights.
Funding Supports Two-Sided Health Platform
The company said its platform responds to the difficulty individuals and providers face in making use of health information spread across reports, wearables, applications and healthcare organisations. The Genie app brings this information together in a secure Health Locker, where it surfaces personalised insights and patterns. Members retain control of their health data, according to the company.
Genie is available for free on iOS and Android. The company said the app is designed to help members interpret their health information and receive guidance based on their individual health context, rather than relying only on general advice from friends or social media.
This funding will enable us to scale both the Genie app and SmartCare faster, while deepening our platform capabilities to build out our vision of a two-sided health intelligence platform.
Singapore’s health needs provide part of the context for the company’s focus. Genie Health cited data indicating that one in three Singapore residents deals with at least one chronic condition, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol or glucose-management issues. The company also linked the growth of preventive healthcare and wellness spending, along with an ageing population, to increased demand for tools that support ongoing health management.
Agentic AI for Clinic Engagement
Genie SmartCare is aimed at primary-care teams managing the additional workload associated with chronic disease and an ageing population. The platform uses agentic AI to engage patients around the clock and handle appointment and follow-up bookings. It combines longitudinal health records with wearable data to give care teams a broader view of each patient’s health journey.
The system is positioned as an assistive layer rather than a replacement for clinical oversight. Genie Health said providers retain complete oversight throughout SmartCare’s use, while automated engagement is intended to support interactions before and after consultations. The company did not disclose performance benchmarks, deployment volumes or specific integration protocols in the funding announcement.
Healthcare teams want more time to understand their patients and support them prior to and beyond the consultation, but routine administrative demands can get in the way. SmartCare combines automated patient engagement with a fuller picture of each patient’s health journey, helping providers make every interaction more informed and personal.
The company’s founders bring backgrounds in consumer and enterprise technology. Hari V. Krishnan previously served as CEO and managing director of PropertyGuru Group, where he led its NYSE listing and subsequent US$1.1 billion sale to EQT, and earlier headed LinkedIn’s Asia-Pacific business. Maya Hari is the former CEO of Terrascope and previously led Twitter’s regional business. Sandeep Suvarna previously headed international marketing at Twitch and Asia-Pacific marketing at LinkedIn.
Singapore Team and Clinic Expansion
The company plans to grow its product, engineering and healthcare expertise in Singapore as it expands both products. Nadathur said the investment reflects the team’s experience building consumer platforms across Asia and its application of that experience to health engagement.
We back founders who are capable, committed, and aligned with our values for the long term. The Genie Health team brings all of that, along with deep experience building consumer platforms across Asia. They're applying it to a space where technology can genuinely improve how people engage with their own health. We're excited to partner with them on this journey,
The funding announcement does not provide a timetable for further market expansion or disclose the number of clinics using SmartCare. Its immediate priorities are to increase Genie’s consumer reach, accelerate clinic adoption of SmartCare and continue development of the underlying health-intelligence platform.
